Overlooked Features: Invites Within Calendar Events

One of the features I often hear keeps people attached to Facebook are event invites. Often, you may not know a friend is having a gathering or one of your favorite venues is having an event if you’re not on Facebook. What I don’t think a lot of people realize is your smartphone’s native calendar app has the ability to send invites for events you’re having. This works on both iOS and Android.

Take the iPhone for example. Start by creating a new event. If you scroll down just a little bit, you’ll see the section for invites.

Click into that and simply start entering names of contacts into the “To:” field. That’s it. Your invitees will receive either an email or text message allowing them to RSVP to your event and you’ll see who’s accepted or declined within the individual event screen on your phone.

In the meantime, you’re staying off a website that mines your data and sucks your time. This is a feature that I’m sure a lot of people don’t know even exists on their phone. Give it a try next time you’re having an event.
